The district heating supply at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin is to be made more efficient. As part of the Qwark3 project, an innovative heat pump will be deployed that supplies climate-smart district heating. The heat source will be provided by waste heat from the district’s cooling plant.

The European Union (EU) has published the new funding call ,,Joint Call 2022'' with a budget of around 140 million euros. The funding is available for projects that develop innovative technologies and system solutions that will help Europe become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.

18 metres long, around five metres high, and highly efficient: Mannheim-based energy company MVV is building a river water source heat pump along the bank of the Rhine by the GKM power station in Mannheim. The heat pump extracts thermal energy from the river and uses it to produce heating water.
